Langisandur is a 1km long beach that is very popular with the locals in Akranes for outdoor activities. Parallel to the beach is a walking and cycling path which connects one end of town to the other. At the south end of the beach is Sólmundarhöfði which boasts unobstructed views of the Faxaflói bay and Reykjavik, historical monuments can also be found nearby.
